Are you looking for things in the alt.binaries.* newsgroups?
if so, stop looking. Go Easynews or Giganews.

I've tried those in addition to Newsfeeds. Most of the other ones out there just resell services from these other three anyway.
Also, as you get into more crowded newsgroups with bigger binaries (i.e. chello, cd.images, etc) propagation and completion will be more of an issue.
With Easynews the ONLY, and I mean ONLY time I get incompletes is when the original post is damaged. Otherwise, my completion rate is 99.9999%

Very few companies have the bandwidth and resources to maintain such a high level of post retention and completion.

*edit*

To give you an idea of how good Easynews is, I loaded all the headers from one group in 2 copies of a multithreaded newsreader. One using Easynews, one using ALL available servers for Newsfeeds (Newsfeeds has like 20 different servers that overlap with different groups). Easynews still came out a few % higher in terms of available posts.

Just try easynews, they have a free trial with instant activation right there on the homepage. If you think it's fast, subscribe. If not, then don't.

Unlimited?? Is it fast?

I downloaded a lot (200+GB) over the past weeks, the download speed with my cable connection is usually between 1.5 and 2 mbps.

Don't forget to mention the fact that they're down every other week making up some lame excuse. Don't take my word for it, check their network status page. Today for example: "We are currently working on issues involving completion in binary groups." Gosh, they've been doing that almost every three days for like... oh I dunno, a month or two... ever since they went "unlimited". If you don't mind incessantly incomplete posts and "group does not exist on server" messages for groups that you just downloaded from yesterday, go for it.

I've been looking for an additional usenet service. I currently have GigaNews through comcast but I only 1GB per month which is used very quickly. I signed up for AthenaNews because they offer 1GB per day for $5.95. So far the service has been horrible. It's slow as hell (11KB/s-55KB/s), it disconnects me all the time and 90% of my e-mails to their customer service go unanswered. Glad I'm only out $5.95. My next stop was Astraweb. They offer unlimited downloads for $14.95 per month. I signed up for the trial and the speed is great. They were missing a few key groups but I was able to send an e-mail and request them. If they do add the groups I will consider signing up for a few months. GigaNews and Easynews are great but their download limits are too restrictive for the price.
