What's a good cheap palm to use for college planner?

I need a planner or something to keep all my assignment info and dates and stuff. Which palm do you use and which one has good features for college students? Cheap too? But not crappy, low quality kind of cheap.

I went to the bookstore and got the $4 academic planner. You know, with paper. I tried using a Palm pilot in college, and even though I had a job where I had appointments (scheduled tech support calls), I realized that my life was not busy enough to justify the use of an electronic planner. I ended up just fooling around in class with it.

Is this ipaq 1910 cheap enough for you ?

You might be able to get it lower if you can get Staples to PM it and use coupon.

Or if you need something under $100, I suggest you look at Palm or Handspring from reputable seller at ebay.
You'd be surprise how low Palm or Handspring can go.
If you have Fry's Electronic, they carry refurb Handspring for cheap.

Get a Palm IIIxe off EBay. I had one for a couple years and it was great. Big screen, easy to read, etc. I can hook you up with some rechargeable AAAs for it too. 😀

What about a Palm Zire? I dunno how cheap they are but I hear they are pretty simple.
From the description, sounds like what I need it for.....but looks a little outdated???

You may be right......same thing w/ me.....i dont think mines is that busy........but actually i just want one that i can rite down hw assignments by day.....not by time........

Get a BE-300. They are dirt cheap now and with eXpod and PPX-Lite it's an awsome pda. It'll run 95% of all PPC software and the interface is even better than the PPC. Only draw back is that it's hard to see the screen outdoors.

probably should get an old clie....
they're so mucher better than palms and pretty cheap. my friend was able to score an sj22 or something for $30. you won't be able to find one for that cheap, but I think they're around $100 used.

What is PPC software?

zire, clie, ipaq, be300......since when do they have so many palms, companies, and software?? LOL

There are 2 major PDA Operating Systems (3 if you count Linux). PalmOS, and PocketPC (or PPC). IMHO PocketPC is by far the best. Palm and Sony both use PalmOS. Just about everyone else uses PPC. I still say the BE-300 is by FAR the best for the money.

I wouldn't get a Zire because it lacks backlight. A IIIxe would be good since it has 8 megs of memory and a backlight. Its also pretty darned tough. I've had a CLIE S300 (first one) for more then two years now and its been great.

one slim enough to fit in your pocket🙂 many low end ones are just too big. that being said, i never use it for assignments. only for notes of stuff i have to do that pop into my mind

takes too long to enter assignments in. easier to write on paper and enter into outlooks calendar. your pda might sync that though.
