I had a Canon Powershot S30 or something like that over 10 years ago and did really good with macro video recordings and photo shots. This camera gone broke. I have been using Fujifilm FinePix F30 for the last several years which is real good with the colors but it's not made for macro.

Is there any cheap camera that does well with macro video recording and photoshoot? What do ya recommend?

umm thanks?

Does anyone know how to record video with MACRO using Fujifilm FinePix F30? Does this feature even exist?.... I haven't been able to figure it out. If it can, I don't need to shop for another camera.

I came here to post the same question. Looking to find a above average camera for taking close up photos of food.

I saw a newer version (mine is old, over 10 years) Canon PowerShot S30 for $15 Used at Amazon.. Dirt cheap. I can tell you that the S30 I had has real good close-ups for photo. Very detailed, noise-free, and had sufficient color. But it lost steam fast when doing long range shots. Colors were the first thing it lacked. It also had trouble capturing correct white balancing caused the pictures and videos to tint.

I'm gonna go home and check out my dial setting on the F30 to see if I can set to Macro before recording video... it's gotta have it somewhere!

Canon Powershot S30
Macro - Wide : Approx. 10cm - 80cm / 4 in. - 2.7 feet. Telephoto : Approx. 30 cm - 80 cm / 1 ft.- 2.7 ft

Fujifilm Finepix X30
Macro - Wide : Approx. 9 cm - 80 cm / 3.5 in.- 2.6 ft. Telephoto : Approx. 40 cm - 80 cm / 1.3 ft.- 2.6 ft

Looks to me that your Fujifilm should be able to replicate the Canon's close-up abilities with ease.

Did you mean Finepix XP30 or F30? That spec looks like for the XP30. I never paid attention what the spec is for the F30... With the F30, the photos have been inconsistent for close shots. They often go blurry. And definitely can't get too close like I was able to with the PowerShot S30 I had. Same for the video.

I checked it out again. FinePix F30 provides no Macro functionality for taking videos. This sucks.

It's still a nice camera though. The color capture and depth is impressive and low light capturing is very good. But worthless in close shots.

How cheap? My LX7 does macro video and can focus as close as 1cm (I just tested it and I got to 0.5cm). It's $298 for today and tomorrow at B&H and Adorama.

Here's a macro video I made http://youtu.be/3MnSa3FavLw

woahh... 1cm? 0.5cm? that's crazy close. I don't need it that close but... shows how much room it has. Thanks. I will check out the video when I get home.
