Whats a good car wax?

Most important consideration is that the longer I don't have to wax it again the better Are there any reviews of car waxes out there?

For plain ole waxes, I like Meguiar's Gold Class stuff. For really really really deep shine, you can't touch Zaino.

Meguiar's is a very good wax. There's also some stuff called Liquid Glass that is excellent.

Stay away from crap like Turtle Wax or Blue Coral.

Nope, you can only mail order Zaino.

Bare minimum you'll want Z1, Z2, Z5, and Z6. Probably Z7. And maybe their clay bar, or any other clay bar from Pep Boys (Mother's, Meguiar's). And lots of 100% Made in the USA cotton towels. Those cars you are seeing have dozens of coats of Z2 on em. The black firebird is rumored to have 50! It shines like nothing else for the price, but it's pretty time consuming. Not hard work, just takes a while.

That's too bad about the mail order part, but usually the case is that the really good stuff of anything you can't buy in a store

There is a company called The Wax Shop that has excellent products for black paint, check them out.

I'd try Nu Finish. I've used it before. It's supposed to last a long time. I also like the Meguire's products, though their product line is confusing. If the finish is older or slightly neglected, their cleaner wax works well and is easy to apply. Their High Tech Yellow wax is harder to apply. I'm glad I decided to buy a buffer, otherwise the results wouldn't be worth the effort.

I use Zaino on my car... great stuff. It's time consuming to apply tho since you have to wait 8 - 24 hours between coats. Not hard to put on or get back off and it does seem to last longer than most things. I need to get some new pics of my freshly zainoed car but this old one will have to do. Click
It's now a lot shinier than that because I have 3 fresh coats of Z3 on there
BTW it's correct that you can only mail order zaino... but you can also email Sal Zaino and he'll tell you if there are any local distributors in your state... I had my local NC distributor meet me @ the mall to get mine.

Based purely on length of time between waxings, you can't beat the silicone based waxes (nufinish, blue coral, etc). They don't give the best shine or color depth but they are real easy to put on and take off. For a better overall finish, I'd suggest Zymol, they make several different grades of wax and tailor them for dark or light finishes. If you stay away from the Zymol concours grade ($$$) they are all pretty affordable and easy to apply. My 2c.

RainDance always made good wax. I don't know if you can still buy it or not, as I haven't seen it for probably 10 years.

I've got a bottle of Nu Finish I may try. My car is in desperate need of a washing, I may have to hit the car wash on my way home tomorrow and wax it on the 4th.

I used it on my clear coat with no ill effects, I would only use it on a light colored car though, or at least try a samll area on a dark car before going all the way.

Meguiar's is a very good wax
Darn straight. For newer cars, get the three coat system. Its a pain, but it is worth it. Everyone who has ever used it will swear by it.

Nu Finish or my favorite easy wax, Eagle One, the Wet Look. Last a year or more on an every day driver.
