I'd like to find a good benchmark to compare the speed of my IBM T41 1.6ghz Centrino to the newer Core 2 Duo's....
 
There's benchmarks for everything, office productivity, media encoding, gaming, what're you looking for exactly? And how is it you've been here since 2001 and you haven't heard of 3DMark, an OT guy???
 
If it was me, I'd google "cpu benchmark tools". I haven't benched my cpu in a long while, SiSoft Sandra comes to mind...not that I can remember if that's actually one. There's future mark tools that bench cpu's and gpu's.
