Need a good bank; ie one that doesn't kick your butt on charges and also has a lot of offices throughout the US. In Canada the best bank would be Royal Bank - what about US?

I would suggest waiting to see if your new company has a Credit Union. The US is moving in the direction of Canada with bank consolidation and most of them are outrageous with their fees IMHO. Credit Unions are typically much cheaper fee wise.

I use a Bank of America express account. As long as I keep $500 in checking, I won't be charged a fee. On top of that, there are lots of locations (Bank of America, duh...).

Not many B of A's in the East coast so I use Citibank. Using Citibank is sort of like a bad marriage. It totally sucks but I can't switch because of convenience. If I could choose again I would go with Chase, even though I've never tried it.

well, nearly every bank in the US has a blazingly high 2% interest rate, so your cash REALLY starts to add up over the centuries.

note the sarcasm, people.

There are quite a few here in DC (in fact, my company leases a floor in their building). I used to live in Oregon and there are plenty there as well.
I use them because they have so many locations. However, I use a credit union for most of my banking.

I use to be with Bank of America until the ticked me off. I agree with the other fellow about the credit union I think you usually get the best deal there. Other than that either First Union or Wacovia, of course their suppose to merge so either one would be good.

Bank of america is the only coast to coast bank in the US. If I where you, I would maybe do a credit union and then have another account with Bofa for when you need access to your account outside your normal area. BofA does offer a express account and there is no charge for it if you do a direct deposit(doesn't matter how much), and only go inside to a teller once a month.
