What's a "good" 3Dmark score?

The CPU test is supposed to run at like 1-2 FPS. The score seems a tad low for a processor of your type (quad core), I've seen people get 10,000+ with a rig similar to yours.

Don't fret too much. 3DMarks don't translate to real-gaming performance, it's just an e-penis competition. An overclocked CPU would significantly boost the score because of the 3DMark CPU test, but that doesn't necessarily translate that the CPU will magically make Crysis run at 60FPS.

Yea... was a little confused by the whole thing. My real game performance blow theses tests out of the water. I usually get like 50-60 fps on 1920x1200, with mid-range to high settings depending on the game.

o well, /boggle

try a little overclocking with the gts, you might see some nice gains (i went from 88xx to 109xx with my now outdated gts but still cant break 11k even with my cpu and ram @3.6 and 800mhz 4-4-4-12 respectively, damn nvidia's vista drivers)

There is no such thing as a 'good' score.

The ORB does however give you a comparison of clock speed, video cards and chipsets which marginally can give you an idea of performance.

Yer mileage will always vary ...

to give you an idea...

3dmark06, just using the free demo/trial version, i get a bit under 12000, .ike 11,940

msi 8800gt at stock sppeds (no OC)
e8400
2g 4-5-4-11 mushkin ddr2

thats all stock

i forget my oc score...

should aslo put that for a frame of reference 3dmark said for comparable systems, my score was low...

i really need to OC that card to just the OC stat one that MSI sells...

Seemed to do really bad with the processor test.

Hrmm.. I scored 10,385 with the setup in my sig at all default. At 2.5GHz it was 10,600ish.

remember that the scores scale, so by having a high end card like the 8800 gts, you might want to take off any AA you have setup, and try setting the 3dmark res to 1900x1200 and try that.

e8400@3.6ghz and (1) hd3870 slightly overclocked ------->~12500 3dmark 06

now e8400@3.8 w/ (2) hd3870 slightly overclocked-------->~17500+ 3dmark 06

I get 15,879 in 3dmark06 with one card, but who's counting. lol

I would like to have to cards in crossfire, to play around with.

q6600 system

at dead stock settings (had an 8800 GTX at the time) = 9900
@3.6 with the 8800 gtx it would run 13990
@3.1 with and OC'd 8800 GT I get 14364;
@3.1 with an oc'd 8800 gtx it pulls 16010

my e8400 running at 3.6 with an 8800gts scores 14666.
