What's a Good 19" LCD for a Graphic Artist?

I have been reading over 'round-ups', guides and what-not about LCD monitors recently, but I can't seem to find one that anyone seems to think is good for color reproduction, and we're looking to get a few for our graphic artists at work.

Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? Anything I sould be looking for specifically?

The only thing to keep in mind are that they will be used with 2d art programs like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, etc., hence the need for better color reproduction.

Any input is appreciated - Thanks!

From what I understand, the red issues that come from the lack of LCD backlighting are killer to color accuracy in all LCDs today. I would strongly consider keeping with a high quality non-flat screen CRT.

I've been reading that color works funky-like on an LCD, but here's our problem - the artists sit by a large window that the CEO doesn't want to 'cover' (don't ask), and the CRT monitors end up 'washing' out over time beacuse of the sunlight, not to mention crap-loads of glare. :(

So in this situation, if I was to go with an CRT, what could I do?

There are some LCDs that have pretty decent color reproduction that is supposed to be close to that of a CRT. I don't remember where I read it though, but it's out there.

There are some LCDs w/ very good color-production, but they're not cheap.

What's your budget?

Let's pretend it doesn't exist for a second. ;) What would the price for a 'reasonably' good one be?

More reasonably priced LaCie LCD:
LaCie 321 LCD Monitor

Or you can always go w/ the ACD.

Thanks for the links!
But alas, they are indeed out of our ballpark; after seeing how LCDs have dropped in price I opened my fat-mouth and said about $500 - $600 per monitor. :p Looks like I'm going to have to make CRT work.

Anyone have any suggestions on that? I know about the 'hoods' you can use to cover the monitors (make it look like it's wearing a big baseball cap), but that's about it.

I think the best CRT at this time is probably the Sony GDM-C520K Artisan 21", but since it's too expensive I'd recommend either the IBM C220p or the NEC Diamond Pro 2070SB-BK. Both are priced between $600~$700.

Note: The 2070SB-BK is newer than the C220p, so you might get a monitor that's been sitting in a warehouse since 2003/2004.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm familiar with the NEC's. Pretty good stuff. ;)
