a file mirror is just that, mirrors the file available from somewhere else.

yeah ok... a real mirror reflects an image but it's not exact because it's reversed.
a file mirror gives you the exact same file.

You are forgetting that file mirrors download the bits of a file in reverse order of the original source so its turn out in the correct order, thereby becoming an exact copy.
