What's a duplex printer?

I still have an HP laserJet 4 running, here. I work for a guy who thinks every piece of equipment should last for 10 years+.

How do you like those pickup rollers? 😀

Why shouldn't it?

A well maintained laser printer should certainly be able to last 10 years, as long as it's not abused.

There are MANY 4's, 4+'s, and 5's still in service.

They're absolutely bulletproof. Even when they're "broken" all they typically need is a maintenance kit to run like new again.

They aren't the biggest problem. Fusers are a big pain. They go out every 4-6 months, now.

Most of my printers around here are 7-10 years old. I'm loving having the Lexmark t630dn printers coming in, though.

Viper GTS

we have a 4MP hooked up to the serial port of our postage meter. Still works fine

It's a special machine that allows you to print money!

Seriously though, if anyone needs a duplexer attatchment for an HP inkjet printer, let me know. I have two for sale. They fit most HP model numbers.

The LaserJet 5 and 6 series had the real roller problems, from what I recall. Stupid HP gave away replacement parts for the 6 but not the 5. Curse them! Never again...

Some friends still have a working LJ 3. Amazing!

I'm currently using an Okidata 10e rescued from a library dumping. It still kicks butt, and the toner is way cheaper than it is for my NEC Superscript 870 ($30 vs. $130, yikes!).

And oh yeah, duh, duplex ==> two sided printing (but everyone already told you that).
