I have this one for my PC. It's more than $50 though. I'm very happy with it. NICE picture, decent still shots and just works well.
I use this one w/my laptop. I'm fairly happy with it. Nice picture, good color, just plain works, etc.
The only thing I don't like about the laptop one is that it doesn't auto focus. You have to turn the ring around the lens. But, that's pretty much a one-time thing you have to do. It's got roughly an 12-18-inch focus length, meaning that if you move back and forth about 18 inches or so, you're still in focus. The ring isn't that easy to turn, so it doesn't get out of focus when you put it back in it's little carry bag. (Which is small and quite handy, as opposed to just chucking it in the bag with the power supply, mouse, etc.)
I use Windows Live Messenger with both and it works very well. Can't comment on how well they work w/Skype, Yahoo, etc as I've never tried.
I downloaded the latest software/drivers for both from Logitech's site; I never use the drivers that come in the package with anything.
The drivers are bloated; there's all kinds of backgrounds, overlays and crap that you'll never use, but with 60GB+ hard drives common in laptops (and huge HDs in PCs) that's really not an issue.
Many people say you don't need the drivers if you're running XP SP2; I can't vouch for that. I always load drivers for everything.
MHO. Hope this helps.
