I am going to try to make the Enron auction here in Houston. Dovebid lists several hundred desktop pc's, mostly Compaq deskpro's (tower only, no OS or peripherals, average 800mhz, 128mb ram, 15gb hdd). Thought one might make bargain pc for my kids to learn on. What would be a decent bid for one of these? What would you pay for one of these, supposing you were to get one? Thanks.

Seeing that it is at the enron auction. I wouldn't go over $25 for one. Well maybe $50 but that it. Having hundreds of them for auction should stay low.

75 max, but that's if i was just buying one. If you are getting them from an auction, I wouldnt go above 40-50

Thanks, guys. I don't think they are being auctioned in a batch, as each one has a different lot number. Later.

Mloot--I've seen most stuff from belly-up dotcoms go for MSRP of new stuff on Dovebid. I wouldn't expect to score too many deals, too many idiots who don't know what to pay for tech stuff show up at these auctions...you'd be surprised!

Hope this quote works (1st time I've tried copying one).

Anyway, I hope they don't go for too much. I'm hoping the sheer number of these things will let me scarf one for cheap. And if I don't get one for $25-30, I'm no worse off than I was before.

Jeez, I have been to a few local auctions, people pay all kinds of money for basically crap.

Just a few weeks back I saw a P-II 300 machine go for over $150 :Q

hehe...based on all the reports I've heard about the auction, I'm guessing you didn't get a bargain, eh? :)
