What's a cheap place to stay for a night in St. Louis?

I'm road tripping next week and need to stay for the night in St. Louis, MO. Since I'm a college student on a budget, I'm not picky at all about the quality of the hotel/motel/whatever.

Any suggestions?

Super8 is low $60s.

Orbitz got me down to the mid-$40s.

I'd really only be careful of the hotels on I-70 between the airport and the river, most other places you'll be fine. Which highway will you be on?

I-70, going east. Thanks for the links, the Super 8 is working out to ~ $50 with tax. Unless I find something cheaper, I think I will go for this.

You could possibly stay with us. What will you be doing in STL?

Just making a pit-stop. I'm driving from Denver to Atlanta (map) and St. Louis will be a good place to spend the night.

I went to St Louis with my GF and her kids for a little vacation around the 4th of July.
This may be just a hair out of budget, but, it's not MUCH more expensive than super 8, but it's MUCH nicer.

We went to the
Holiday Inn Express in Cahokia

We got 2 rooms, one with a king bed, and one with two double beds and a couch. Rooms were big, The room with the king bed included a refrigerator/microwave. It had a sofa too, with a table in front of it. They have a pool. Their continental breakfast is quite good. It's not just a little cart.

Also, I know this is pretty much standard at most places these days, but they have 802.11 wireless access available (no extra charge), as well as a PC with net access and a printer that guests can use (no extra charge).

Anyhow, on a weekday, for just 1 room, Orbitz.com is telling me the price next week is between $50 and $60.

If I go back to St Louis, and If I want to stay at a decent place without overextending my budget, Holiday Inn Express is probably my #1 choice for next time ....

If I were you I would really think about doing a priceline or a hotwire....
The other day i got the Holiday Inn right at I-70 and the earth city expressway for $41 on priceline.... usually you can get a 2.5 or 3 in the airport area for around $45

I travel 3 weeks outta the month and I almost always use pricelne or hotwire

In general Hotwire is crappier about star level....2.5's sometimes being laquinta's etc... which is BS

Alot of 2 star's are the extended stays now some of which are really cruddy...other are brand new and nice.....I try not to go below a 2.5 when bidding on a hotwire or a priceline.....

I'll do a two sometimes on hotwires if it shows a pool because that mean it's not a ***** Extended stay america...

The Renaissance Grand is a great place to stay, but not exactly budget friendly

Super 8 is fine if you are on a budget.

I'd recommend staying in Columbia, Missouri instead of St. Louis. Red Roof Inn, or similar.
There's usually coupon books for motel discount savings, which can be found at various fast food restaurants (McDonald's, etc.)
Arrive at the motel by 6:00 PM, or risk not being able to use the coupon, due to sellout.
The coupon book also has a web site where you can get download-and-print coupons. Sorry: don't have the web link.
