what's a cheap case with a removable motherboard tray?

It all depends on what you consider cheap. My Addtronics has a removeable mobo tray and it was about $110 or so about 3 years ago. It might not be $40 but compared to some $200 aluminum units I've seen it's cheap. 🙂

I've got one of those for a server (I didn't realize I could take the tray out till I was done building it!😱)

I was hoping someone knew of a descent one under $50

Like it or not, the adoption of the Atx standard with the psu at the top of the case pretty well eliminates the need for mobo trays- they're generally pretty easy to work with. Older AT style boxes were often a mess, with side mount psu's and extremely awkward internals.

What you want is getting tough to find- I think PCCase still offers some, the few I used were OK quality, be careful to get a decent psu with it......

I've seen many cheap generic cases come with that feature. Ummm, check out the Maxtop brand at Newegg. Those cases have little braces inside to make them sturdier, are cheap and the tray comes out with one screw.

Netlink Case w/ 350W PS @ NCIX.com ~$40

Netlink NCIX Reviews

From one of the reviews:
It also includes a easy pull-out motherboard tray, which is quick to take out and work on. Also includes front USB ports which work excelent, and 2 case cooling fan slots for the 80mm fans. The case is pretty roomy and well cooled.

Same Case w/o PS @ Akida.net ~$20(I think you might be able to receive discounted shipping(if interested) by checking and/or mentioning PriceWatch-might call and check. YMMV)
