Whatever happened to the terror warnings....

Local cities were linking the mobilization of civil resources to key changes in the threat level. As a result, the DHS is now more cautious when changing the threat level, so these resources aren't wasted prematurely.

Amazing ... isn't it?

Now we have to lockup/frame Chinese Illegal Immigrants who claim to have a dirty bomb in Boston 😛 ...

They're giving that a rest for now because they know if they overdo it, it will lose it's effect on the masses.

But don't despair, while Bush seeks to renew the Patriot Act you'll be sure to get alot of new terror warnings and terror threat elevations

Unfortunately, that's spot on.

In other words Homeland Security was coordinating terror threats with Bush's election campaign and now that Bush has "won" they can stop wasting Homeland Security funds and civil resources to use false threats for political purposes.

maybe there just arent any terrorist threats at the moment. You guys are a bunch of conspiracy theorists with no proof to back anything up.

Open your eyes..

Why were the terror warnings so frequent near the election and
why did Cheney tell America that if they voted for Kerry that the terrorists would kill them? -

But one can make inferences with the information we do have.

Why were there terror warnings? Because it was likely terrorists wanted to attack us and affect our elections like they did in Spain.

Why did Cheney say electing Kerry would make them less safe? Because he was running a campaign and saying what he believed. Kerry said Bush has made the country less safe with no actual proof to back that up. There actually hasn't been an attack on the USA since 9/11, so I think he actually has made it more safe.

Could someone explain to me what the purpose of the warnings is if they aren't meant to scare us? I mean, what the hell would a citizen do about it assuming a warning is indeed legit.

Well Ashcroft summed it up pretty well during his resignation speech: The Justice Department's efforts, he said, have contributed to "a historic era of safety and security." Hey, don't worry about it, the war on terror is practically in the bag! Those f'n terrorists can't touch us now!

The govt can cover it's ass if it does happen, saying "I told you so."

You can don your gas mask, run into your bombshelter (fully stocked, of course), turn on your generator, and gobble up your penicillin. All of which can be purchased at WalMart. Because not buying things lets the terrorists win.

Or hey, during this "down time" you can write some letters to your Congress-critter demaning that they renew the Patriot Act. Because as we all know, if the government doesn't clamp down on our civil liberties and curtail our freedoms, then the terrorists win! Er, uhhh, wait a sec...
