Whatever happened to empty mouse over space?

Remember the good old days when white space wasn't something to be ashamed of? You could rest your mouse almost anywhere on the screen and not worry about invoking commands and functions you didn't know existed. I'm so tired of accidentally hitting one of the dozen or so mouse buttons and wondering where TF I am.

Take the ATOT thread list. There's some empty space (black not white space since . . . dark mode) near the top and a little on the right. If I felt like going on a treasure hunt, I might find more but the space would be so tight I'd need a micrometer and the hands of a surgeon (a good one, hehe).

I think I'm actually developing anxiety over this. Getting lost in the digital wilderness is one thing, but making the return trip is another.

Mobile apps have made the problem intolerable. I have pretty dainty fingers (women's size 8 ring) and I dread using the on screen keyboard more than going to the dentist. Were it not for reasonably decent voice recognition, I'm not sure I would have survived.

Part of that I'm sure is my problem due to abysmal hand-eye coordination. I mean, I can usually hit a dart board - somewhere on the cork/bristles - but never in the same place twice, except maybe by chance.

If I'd practice, or even better, had grown up using smart phones, it probably wouldn't be an issue. But wishes, horses, something, something,
