Must be, because I stopped seeing that brand in stores a WHILE back and they were all over for a while...

I have one I bought to take with us to Palm Springs because my Father-In-Law is too cheap to buy one for his house out there. I think I've used it half a dozen times.

Wasn't there some kind of copyright issue with it. Like they stole part of their design from a major company. Or was that cyberlink?

Well, I will have to say good riddance. Office depot was giving those out if you placed an order over $50 and out of the 5 or so I received, exactly one worked. They give a new meaning to the word crap.....:disgust:

Its too bad, that company really made DVD become popular. They sold millions of those super cheap DVD players. And I'd say they are fairly rugged. We have 2 of them. We do homeschooling with it. Thats 7 hours a day of playing DVDs 5 or sometimes 6 days a week. Its been going around 4 years now i believe and aside from a VERY loud rattling noise it sometimes makes when spinning up, it still plays fine. It really got DVD players into people home and helped put the final stake in VHS.

There are so many cheap DVD players now, but from what I understand the maker of Apex now manufactures DVD Players(and other Consumer Electronic Goods) for other Popular Name Brands now.

Fascinating read!

Apparently, Apex never manufactured anything itself.
