Ambition? Have you checked with Jeff Beck?

There are some bands I like out there. Rival Sons. But I just don't connect with a lot of it. Crabcore, blast beats, cookie monster vocals, guitarists that practice scales at light speed and think it's melodic...not my thing.

There's some good stuff in the list. Quite contemporary from my aged standpoint though. My era of indy rock/alternative was Eighties through the Nineties, when beyond that point the entire scene was so rubbish i just gave up listening to contemporary music altogether.

Some notable bands of that Genre and in my era would include:

Neds Atomic Dustbin
Carter USM
The Wonderstuff
Pop Will Eat Itself
Faith No More
The Stone Roses
The Cult
Echobelly
The Pixies
Placebo

..and many, many more. I loved the Indy scene of that era, but any good Rock from the late Fifties through to the turn of the century is definitely my bag. The late Nineties until maybe the last year or two has been depressing though. Music had hit an all time low during that period. There are signs of improvement recently but music will never again reach the heights set by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits and Pink Floyd.

Rock and Roll is old people music.
You need to start listening to dubstep.

The next tool album will be epic. Probably 7 years in the making by the time it comes out.
