So I want redo everything on my C drive, a total wipe and reinstall, but every time I go to C drive right click and format drive and then quick format I get the {WARNING: Formatting will erase All data etc} I hit OK then it will say{ Windows was unable to complete the format} hit OK and then nothing. Why!

Xp is on there already. I just want to reformat it and reinstall XP it. If there is a better way I'm game.

Put in your windows XP cd and use that to format it at bootup

I try it and, It would say that the version that I have now is the newest and it wouldn't let me do a reinstall it.

😕

You are formatting not reinstalling. You need to boot off the CD and go to install windows then I screen should pop up allowing you to format whatever you like.

Xp is the drive and here what it will say.

Install Windows Xp
Install optional Windows Components
Perform additional task
Check system compatibility

After I hit install Xp I get

Windows setup cannot continue because the version of windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

Then all I can do is hit Cancel or click details

Like others have said, DON'T put in the XP CD after you've booted INTO XP--make sure the BIOS is set to boot from CD-ROM first, then turn off the computer, turn it back on, insert the XP CD while it's POST'ing, then off you go.
