What you guys think of Geil RAM

I have heard of mixed reviews from the stuff. Some sucks really bad not reaching stated speeds and then some times it does and OC's a little bit. Its cheap ram so you shoulnd't really expet much above stated numbers.

RE:"I just bought a 512mb 3200 400mhz Geil for my Asus A7N8X Delux and 2500 barton....what you guys think? Any good....garbage???"

Why didn't you ask before you bought it?

All you can do is try it. Should run at spec.

I bought it because I found few people on Newegg reviews that have been running it with my set up and were very happy with it.

Many that buy Crucial or other that ASUS recommends say they dont perform up to their specs......thought I would give it a try....I can always return it

no me gusta. i dunno, can be hit or miss... sometimes you have to crank up the voltage to get the stuff to run at advertised timings 🙁

i bought the geil platinum pc4000 and have it going rock solid at 250Mhz 1:1 with 2.5/4/4/7, also have used their 'normal' (blue) sticks and they have always been solid as well. but that's with the intel line, which is more overclock friendly memory wise if i'm not mistaken?

I'll keep you guys posted how I make out with it....

THX

For that money Geil was a no brainer....all memory reviews seem to have some issues. So I thought it was worth a try.

I have heard the the low-end Geil stinks but the high-end (I.E. Platinum Performance) is better. I hope so since I just ordered some PC4000 Platinum memory.

I RMA'ed my GIEL PC3200 512MB x 2
for Dual Matched Kit Kingston HyperX PC2700 1GIG for $15 more...

no regrets...
the giel crap couldn't run anywhere close to its timings...
6-3-3-2.5-2T spec crap timings and it couldn't do it

doing 5-2-2-2-1T on the HyperX

I got my Giel RAM for pretty cheap when I built my machine (at least $40 cheaper than Kingston HyperX) and I've had NO problems whatsoever. Although other people bash it, I would buy from them again.
