I have like 40 pennies... don't want to throw it away and don't want it to clog up my drawer... I try to use them in the grocery but they just keep on coming...
i've thought of going to a bank to exchange it (to like 4 dime...?) but it is embarrasing as hell...

any smart way to get rid of them?

Give them to the pizza delivery guy as a tip if he shows up late.
I did that once, gave the guy like 500 pennies. He was pissed. Oh well that's what happens when it takes an hour and a half to get a pizza to my house. At least I got to get rid of all of those loose pennies floating around my house.

i've found that safeway cash thing to be handy, sure, it eats up lik 9%.. but what the hell, just dump the change in, and then go get your money (altho, dumping only 40 pennies in may seem pointless :))

and 40 ain't all that much, i dumped a container of coins into the machine.. counted 300+ pennies :)

A co-worker puts them in an empty 5 gallon watter bottle.

After that? Ida know, but all the grocery store around here have the coinstar devices that will sort change for you and give grocery store credit.

I save up my change, and when it looks like I have enough, I put them in rolls, head down to the bank, and buy a savings bond. Every year or two I'll have me an extra $50 for a rainy day.. First bond should be maturing in about a year or so (started doing that 9 years ago I guess).

Some grocery stores have those automated counter thingies. You just dump your change in there and it counts it out and gives you a reciept to take to either pay for your groceries with or get cash. Downside is they charge a 9% surcharge for it. I'm patient enough to count out my own change and not pay the 9%.
