HI,
I just bought myself a couple of dvd burners. i actually need them for various computers, but i want keep the best one for myself. i think in terms of quality they are all pretty similar (all are dual layer 16x burners) but i want to keep the quietest one.
what if i use a spare power supply that i have, plug into the wall, then plug in my power supply tester, which in actuality turns "on" the power supply and then i get 4 molex connectors and plug all the drives in at the same time without actually connecting drives to a computer. is this bad for the power supply? for the burners?
lastly, if i put in media into the burners in this state, does the burner spin up the disk even though it's not connected to a computer. i think this would be the best way of judging how quiet they are head to head.
