What would your fist look like if you punched through a piece of glass

My buddy thinks if you are quick you won't cut your hand much. I think you'll be bleeding all over.

Anyone done such a thing or know of a picture?

I can tell you for a fact that if you put your leg through a glass sliding door, you're going to need a lot of stitches.

If you somehow manage to not break every bone in your hand and miraculously avoid the hundreds of shards of razor sharp shrapnel, I'm sure it will look fine.

The fist comes out all right, but the arm suffers greatly. I had a friend do that by accident and he cut a tendon in his arm, it never fully recovered.

Depends on how you strike it, and whether the glass is shatterproof or automotive (shatters easily) :D

You have to use more than a cloth

Glass comes out much more jagged than people think.
Your friend's arm is going to be bloody and filled with glass (hopefully large chunks instead of lots of small powder)

my friend palmed a door window

it cut into his lower thumb muscle, you could see the bone, a lot of blood, and you'll have a scar to remember

um...mythbusters did a test on it, they ran a dummy into a window with a skin thing about as tough as regular skin. it will cut something, but i don't think they had anything seriously injured. but i may be wrong.

One friend up at school was leaving our house in a not-so-great mood and punched the small window in our front door. He ended up having to go to the hospital and get stitches, IIRC.

Basically same experience. He had 24 stitches and it was lengthwise up his wrist. He was way lucky.

You put your hand through a tempered glass windshield? That I would like to see.

If you punch straight and don't have ANY lateral motion and the upper piece isn't jarred loose and falls on your arm, you'll end up with a few knuckle cuts. This is seldom what happens.

My friend did the same thing after arguing with his wife. He now has a gnarly looking scar across the first two knuckles on his right hand. It didn't help that he had enough alcohol in him to keep his blood from clotting.

Windshields are laminated, not tempered ;).

And I would pay money to see that. I have seen people use a sledge hammer on a windshield and not be able to open up more than a 2-3" hole.

Windshields aren't tempered, they are two pieces of regular glass with a piece of plastic laminated in-between. Side and rear glass is tempered.

EDIT: Damn wiz I hope you're not that fast in the bedroom.

I bet if you hit the thing like Bruce Lee that thing would shatter and your hand would bear no ill effects.
