I gather most of you are in debt because of student loans & stuff. But If you had to write a will, what would you make it about?

Me:

My apartment goes to my mom.
My car goes to my bro.
My stuff (gadgets and stuff) gets distributed around.
My cash and investments gets adjusted against existing debts and the proceeds donated to a charity or so.

What about you?

I dont think you get to leave something you are renting (apartment) to anyone.

Also your car, stuff (kind of), and cash/investments have to stand for your debts before they can be left to anyone. So, if you don't have more equity in things than you owe in debts, you can't leave anything to anyone.

Example, if you own a $10,000 car, have $5000 cash, and $20,000 in your 401k or whatever, and have $40,000 in student loans, your estate is ($5000) and no one gets your car (it gets sold) or your cash.

Guitar to my bro
Computer to my two friends cause they don't have one in their apartment
Car to... well, it sucks but my uncle probably would take it
My money to my mom/dad/bro

That's about it.

If I die, it all goes to my wife.

If we both die, our estate gets split 50/50 between my two kids.

We do not have any specific bequeaths for any items.

Depends on the loan. My student loans are cancelled upon my death; there's no requirement that my estate be used to fulfill them.

My will would have a whole bunch of ridiculous qualifiers in it; people would have to reach a certain age, and then they'd have to wait for a blue moon, and only then could they gain access to a vault, which would contain a map with further clues. They'd have to traverse the world, desecrating holy sites, starting small fires, stampeding cattle, tossing bums from airplanes; basic fun activities. It could take years, decades, for them to unravel all the mysteries in the quest for my material posessions. And then, at the very end, they'd find the final resting place of my treasure, and they'd open it up, and all that would be inside would be a note that said "The joy of life is in the journey."

You just got fucked with from beyond the grave!

My assets, if any, are split between my 2 children.

Hmmm, I wonder if this is a legal will - all you guys are my witnesses - just in case I get hit by a bus or something tomorrow.

How do you expect anyone else to track down your possible children if you don't even know if you have them? Do you keep a list of all the random women you've slept with?

mine is easy. everything goes to my wife. if she dies same time i do then everything is split between my 2 kids and put in trust funds for them.

IF all 4 of us die at the same time it goes to oure sisters.
