I could go for a small laptop, good directional mic, and great speech to text software. :)

I use my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8200), but the fan on it is so loud that people around me actually start looking around for the source of the sound.

I had a laptop last year, but I never once took it to class. My notes are very brief and abbreviated, when I actually write the material down. I used between 2 & 5 pages of paper for each class last year.

I can't, but my classes rarely required it. Most of them had a review the day before an exam.
Once again, people actually do go to difficult schools unlike you.

Once in a while a class would get a review session, but it was rare.

I use my laptop in some classes, especially comp. sci. classes. Doesn't work so well if you have to draw diagrams and things.

hello.... this is exactly what tablet pc's were invented for.....

if you just take english/history classes then sure a laptop will suffice... pda's... not really in my experience. if you need diagrams etc, like in physics, chemistry, math.... tablet pc.
