What would you "think" of a person.

Well ok, this asian girl, who surpasses easily my intelligence in academics, takes the ACT and SAT, and then qualified and got accepted into the University of Washington at the age of 16... So next year she plans on attending the university... Skipping junior and senior year... Don't know the major though.

Thoughts about this? lol.

Haha, I was going to say "I think he's Indian or Asian, has ridiculously demanding parents, and probably hates his life".

I guess I should have thought "she" instead of "he".

I skipped my Junior and Senior year and went to college...

If she has the smarts then I say go for it.
Better than hanging out with the cool kids for the next 2 years...

I can personally attest to the fact that the material at my university could be handled by a 16 year old.

There is a kid at Michigan State University who is graduating... he's 18. I believe he's going on to get his masters and or Ph.D at U Pitt or U Penn. I've seen him on campus once or twice before... 🙂 He came here at 14.

Good for her, I'm sorry she's either had such a sh!tty social life that she can't wait to get out of high school, or that she's got parents from hell. Whatever, hopefully she'll be able to make lots of friends and have a great time in college.

I know of 2 people who never went to high school. They just went straight to college. One of them is 18 and is now getting his MS in AE at UCSD :horror;

Good for her. I skipped my junior year of high school and went to college at 17. I didn't have any problems, socially or otherwise.

Hey, We're ranked 76th in the US. 🙂 We also have numerous programs that are ranked in the top 5 in the US.

At 14, being accepted to any major university is somewhat of an accomplishment.

You guys also have your fair share. 🙂 While I do appreciate MSU's sports, I'd probably rather go to U of M. Just for the academics. It was a stupid mistake on my part, oh well. I still love it here.

Seriously. That would be one of my last choices at 14.

I started college with a young woman who was 16. She was academically ready, but socially, not so much. In her case, she'd been the smartest kid in her town for so long, she expected to still be super-special. Her intelligence was there, but I personally found her to be an insufferable and arrogant @#&$@. She was VERY promiscuous; since we didn't get along I never interacted with her enough to know if it was just honest getting-around, or if she was compensating for something psychological. There's a lot more to college than classes -- I don't know that I'd have managed college at 16, just from a emotional maturity standpoint.

She ended up successful, though. Did some really impressive academic work and has a minor musical career on top of her professional life.

I'd go back in time and hit it.

should be fine. She has had some high school experience so she shouldnt be different than anybody else on a social level. Some home-school kids that hit college early dont turn out so well as a counter-example...

I had some 16 year olds in my classes. Mostly in my calculus classes but that was fine. They struggled a little bit but for the most part did very well both in school and socially. They were "protected".
