I'm getting an 8800GT, I might want to get another one for SLI, I am going to get a quad core cpu, I will most likely have 1 dvd/cd drive and 4 hard drives, 2 GB of ram.

Currently I have 3 hard drives, x800xl video card, 1dvd/cd drive, amd 4000+ single core, 2 GB of ram and a 430 watt psu which is working fine.

If I were to only switch out the x800xl for the 8800GT would I need a new PSU or could I just buy a power adapter?

What would I need for the completely new build?

What specific PSU would you guys recommend?

Ok well after viewing a couple of things and checking out this calculator

it seems that with that setup my 430 watt should be just fine, only if I do the sli would I really need to upgrade.

Depends on the 430w unit you got now ? Is it a Seasonic ? Antec earthwatts ? Should be fine for normal usage, not for SLI. If it's not a reputable brand though, then things might get tricky ...

Exactly what I was thinking. If you don't have a quality PSU, you will have possible issues. You might want to consider spending $50-75 on a new PSU, if you don't have a quality one right now. What is your model/make of your current PSU?
