You can probably sell the store credit for much more than 36% of its value if you don't like the store.

Or buy stuff from the store with it and sell that.

The ultimate would be $1k in store credit at Binnys.
That would be like ... between 100 and 200 bottles of beer, that's nearly enough to last me for a year!

I don't know what kind of ~$5-$10 bottles of beer you're buying...

Anyways, take the $1k. If you don't like the store, you can always sell it off for at least 80% value.

Rogue, St Bernardus, Chimay, Ommegang, etc, etc etc, pretty much any Belgian Ale in a 650-750ml bottle, or any American micro in a 650-750ml bottle goes for $5 to $10.

I drink cheap stuff like Miller and the like as well, but I prefer the taste of a good Belgian quadruple over just about any other beers.

200 bottles used to last me 2 weeks, but I've sorta cut down on the drinking a lot, also, these bottles are about as big as 2 regular bottles (some are 1.5litres or 50oz sizes even.)

depends on the store, like if it was taco bell dollars i would rather take the cash
any non-food place i would rather take the store credit cuz i will spend it or i can sell the store credit and get more than the cash

Yes, these are the 10 dollar or so bottles of beer whose alcoholic content ranges anywhere from 6%-11.5%. And they're as big as a bottle of wine, so it would take much longer than two weeks to consume those bad boys.
