What would you guys do in this situation? AMD 1.4 ghz

I'm getting a T-bird 1.4ghz tomorrow. My delima is which motherboard to use for my system. I have a Asus A7V (first version) and a Abit KT7A-RAID. I'm thinking I should use the Abit board because it is a 266 board but I love my Asus board.

What should I do??!!! 🙂

Thx!

How high up will your ASUS board go? If it only goes like 110 as some do, 110*12.5 will not get you there, and I doubt there is a higher multiplier.

To me, ABIT boards are nicer than ASUS (asuming it is a working abit board). But if you really like your ASUS, try to get a 112 or so FSB, and you are good. The preformance diff between 100 and 133 is rather large though.

That was one of the things I was worried about. On Asus's site they only have up to 1.2ghz listed for the board. Abit's site says 1.2ghz and future socket A CPU's.

I think I will use the Abit; just wondering if you guys knew of any pro's and con's between the two boards!

Thx!

Well, the Asus won't do 133MHz FSB so you're out of luck there. Just use the Abit since it officially supports the 133MHz FSB, although I have heard bad things about their quality control. If it were me I would just sell them and get the Asus A7V133 or Iwill KK266.

Abit QC isn't the best, but if you have a board and it works, use it. They can be pretty nice boards. People tend to exaggerate things 😉

Yea, my abit board I kinda liked better than this iwill. Well, not completely. The abit seems faster bootups and all. It seems like the abit board is working for you though, so I would just use that. Are you planning on overclockin though because I dont think abit is the best for that.
