All things being equal - I have about 180$ I can spend on a monitor. I can either get a 15 lcd or a real nice 19 inch crt.

Which one would you get and why?

19" CRT over a 15" any day of the week, unless you totally have NO room on your desk.

This may be a stupid question, but I've been a heavy computer user for years. I know along time ago they were saying that monitor radiation was bad. Has it got better with today's monitors? That was one reason I was thinking of an LCD.

LCD because a 19-inch takes up too much space

how about a 17-inch LCD? you can find a dell easily around $200, the FP173.

I've looked and looked. Most only have a one year warranty. 200$ is alot of money. Most of the ones that have a 3 year total warranty (backlight included) are like 300$ for a 17 inch.

I can't see paying 200$ for somethign with a 1 year warranty. I'm not cheap - just constantly broke :)

Consider the 21" CRT here. Very nice displays, and excellent customer service (see thread below). Stock changes often, so if the particular model you desire is out of stock, a quick phone call can typically find out when the stock will be replenished.

Entire Hot Deals thread on these particular displays here.

If space or weight was not a huge problem, I'd take a nice 19" crt over a 17" lcd. Its not even close.

For that matter I'd take a 19" crt over a 19" lcd as well because 19" lcd's can't do 1600x1200. :)
