1. Found out a co-worker is possibly going to be fired. I don't know the guy personally. I started talking him the other day and he tells me his life story: wife just got pregnant with their 2nd kid, etc. He thinks he is going to be transferred within the "company" to a different state but doesn't know that they are just going to outright terminate him. (Sorry, can't get into details but he didn't do anything illegal or wrong). Should I just mind my own business and let him deal with it on his own? Should I mention what I heard so that he isn't blindsided? There's not really a lot he can do if the fire him but at least he can be prepared. I'd probably want to know if I were in his shoes.

2. Went jogging today and saw a landscaping company emptying their truck's debris (leaves, grass) onto a neighbor's property. The landscaper was hired by a neighbor and they were illegally dumping onto the adjacent neighbors property. Our properties are pretty big and they were dumping in an area that isn't really used or seen. Should I say something to the neighbors? The people that hired the landscaper are Chinese and don't really speak good English. I'm guessing they don't know or maybe don't care that the landscapers are doing this.
The other neighbor is kind of a hot head and has mentioned doing some shady things. Everyone seems to get along right now so by saying something it could make the neighborhood weird.

How will knowing right now be better for him than finding out when the company officially tells him?

If you can't answer that question, keep your mouth shut.

Don't bother with the neighbors. Call the landscaping company that you saw dumping the stuff, and tell them to pick it up or you'll report them to city officials. Tell them you have photos of them dumping it, and that they have a week to get it cleaned up. Just be sure to *67. 😉

He will get a chance to take the copier on the way out:

1. Depends how you came about this information but probably no

2. Get their asses busted, how would you feel if the roles were reversed?

True...but if they have video cameras, he might end up worse off than just fired.

Maybe there will be a fire started by the boss at News Radio that will burn down the entire building and all copies of all incriminating information.

#1) that's privileged information. You shouldn't have found out. Letting him know that you found out may get you named in his termination lawsuit.

#2) I don't really have an opinion, with giant yards and if I would never know the difference, I wouldn't care.

#1 ignore; every grown adult should learn how to handle this situation on their own.

#2 either ignore, or if you're feeling altruistic, report to city.

I'd stay out of #1. If they are in the firing mood I wouldn't want to put myself in the middle of that. All you need is him busting in to the boss's office screaming you just told him he was getting fired. Wouldn't make for a marry Christmas at your house.

1 nothing. It's not your concern. The people who decided could undecide, so now he'll be fired but not, if you told. Can lead to fun office drama if you find office drama fun.

2 nothing. The ground is where lawn "waste" belongs. If it looks especially shitty, call the lawn company and bitch. If you speak Spanish, you can talk to the workers yourself.

When I found out a coworker with a family etc was about to get fired, I quit. I can find a job easy, and no way did I want to pick up the slack, plus my leaving dumped my work load which was not small compared to anybody else on the rest of office so nobody would get fired anytime soon.

You can't tell the person. You could be wrong about them being fired, and you could get dragged into a legal mess, or fubar your own career if telling them results in any damage to the company or boss.

Take a picture of the truck doing the dumping, leave a print for them to find, see if they don't get the hint.
