Something strange happened to me on Thursday, and was wondering what you all think about it.

My gf met some girl on campus on thursday, and found out that she needed a place to stay until sunday. She got a place to stay until saturday and needed to stay around my neighborhood because of some church thing and no ride. So my gf calls me, and asked me if this random stranger girl can stay at my place for one night on sunday. After sunday, the stranger girl will be gone to hong kong forever. My gf also would not be there on sunday.

so what would you do?

I turned her down and told her to go rent a motel. haha

edit: forgot that she offered me 200 bucks for that night... and i don't knwo how she looks :D

If I were feeling super-charitable, I'd give her $40 or whatever for a hotel. I wouldn't let her stay at my house.

$200 for a night? Why would she do that when she can get a suite somewhere for less than that?

she told me because she has no ride, and the bus that goes to that church doesn't run on sunday.

There is likely no hotel or business lodging within walking distance of her church thing.

And I think n0c has a point with the conversation thing. Unless she turns out to be totally quiet and reclusive. Then it'd be awkward.

I'm nice. And if a g/f of mine asked me, I probably would. Meet a new person. But that's me...oh, and I'm also one not to trust, so I would watch her like a hawk.

This is the interesting part. She doesn't have any contact information! After Sunday, she's gone to hong kong forever. There's no way i can find her if she rips me off!

Yeah, going to Hong Kong and never coming back? That almost assures her complete immunity from any reprimands if she happens to swipe some stuff. Though you'd hafta be pretty ballsy and cold-hearted to steal from somebody who is letting you sleep in their house. And the girl goes to church so, she probably couldn't handle the guilt that Jesus would throw at her.

there's no real reason she couldn't stay at a hotel and you could offer to drive her to her thing for a few bucks... right?

at this point it's.. kinda late on saturday, does she still not have a place to stay?

I came home with some weird guy I met at the student union when I was in college and dumped him on my boyfriend (husband, now, boyfriend, then).. it was the strangest thing, looking back I can't believe I did that, can't believe it happened at all, actually.. and it was.. geez, goin' on 30 years ago.. 28 years ago? so my memory is kinda flakey on the details but.. this kid.. I can't even remember his name now.. high school kid was from illinois or.. ohio.. and he just took off driving and somehow wound up in nowhere virginia (virginia tech :) ) with daddy's car and no money, and sang me a sob story at the student center so I brought him home (but not MY home.. :) I wasn't completely stupid) (I lived next door) (I was pretty stupid) (he was more stupid...) so he slept the night in their apartment and then.. took a bus home? I don't recall how he got home, it musta been the bus.. and left his car! so my husband's roommate had no car and looked on this as a gift from god I guess and drove this kid's car around for months.. like.. 3 or 4 months... and eventually the kid came back and picked it up, it was.. the weirdest thing.. if one of my kids pulled a stunt like that.. any part of the stunt! including the bringing the kid home from the student union part (my part :) ).. hah.. I'm sure I'd completely spaz and become the world's most stereotypical freaking out mother..

buy the gal a hotel room and give her a ride where she needs to go tomorrow.
