ok so one of my friends wants to buy her brother a gift...

she's thinking about tivo, but i don't know whether thats a good idea. her mother is getting him an LCD for his computer. his computer is a laptop, kinda sucks and keeps crashing.

my suggestion was buy a new computer to complement the LCD, rather than tivo.

what are the plusses/minuses of each?
 
Unless they purchase the lifetime subscription, I'd shy away from Tivo as adding a monthly bill wouldn't be fun IMO zimu 🙂

yeah i had thought about that. the lifetime thing is what, like 299 bucks right?
i think tivo would be too expensive an option, especially since although he does watch a lot of tv i'm pretty sure he doens't miss many shows or really have the need for tivo.
