Long Version :

Okay, So I wanted to take my girlfriend out for a nice dinner on Saturday evening. We are driving around, notice a resturant with a sign out front that has their specials on it. Sounds good, let's try it out... We enter and notice that there is only one man sitting in the corner. Should be pretty fast service we thought. So we get seated, she takes our orders and brings us our drinks... about 20 minutes go by and we are brought our salads. We eat them, and I get a refill on my drink.

About 45 minutes goes by, and no food... So I ask a waitress walking by if she can find out how much longer it will be. Another 30 minutes goes by, and I ask again. 15 minutes later they bring us our food.

My girlfriend cuts her chicken, and notices that the meat has a pink color to it. I observe this as well, and tell her not to eat it. I show the waiter walking past, and he say's "Yes... dont eat that, it's definatly pink. I'll take it back into the kitchen." Not even 50 seconds later, the CHEF comes out with the chicken in her hand and throws it in front of my girlfriend and yells "Eat this. It's fine. I'm a Fuc#$%^ Chef, I know how to cook chicken, and it's cooked!"

Meanwhile, I have tried to cut my Veal, and notice that it is still frozen in the middle. Yum! I ask to speak to the manager. 5 minutes go by, and The manager calls me over to the bar. She looks at me in an angry face and say's "Are you the guy with the problem ?" So I explain to her that Yes... I have a problem with un-cooked chicken, and frozen Veal for my dinner. She yells at me stating that I will have to pay for it full because I have ordered the food, and it was delivered to my table.

I tell her that am not paying for uncooked food, and that I will only pay for my two drinks, and the salads that my girlfriend and I did eat. She then yells at me that she will have to call the police if I dont pay the $50 bill for uncooked food. (All the time yelling at me, swearing, telling me she ate that chicken and it was fine, etc.) She even said that it wasnt their fault that they have 1 chef cooking for 100 people (But it's not my fault either ?) and yells to me that if I wanted good service, I should have made reservations. (Even though I was seated within seconds of entering the door)

Anyway... This goes on for a good 5 minutes... And she say's that I will have to take a seat and wait until all of her customers leave the place before she will have time to call the police. I offer to call them on my cell phone that is in my car, she yells at me that if I leave she will charge me with theft. I eventually got fed up with her crap, and my girlfriend and I walked out to my car, and drove away not paying for a thing.

Cliff Notes :

- Takes over an hour to get our food.
- Both meals are undercooked. Mine is still frozen in the middle.
- Chef comes out of kitchen swearing at me that she's a chef, the chicken is cooked.
- Manager yells at me that if I dont pay for the food, she will call the police.
- Manager wont call police, wont let me get my cell phone from my car to call for her.
- Manager wont let me pay for just the salads and drinks... She wants it all or nothing.
- 10 minutes of arguing go by, My girlfriend and I calmly walk out of the building and leave paying for nothing.

Question :

Now... What would you guy's do if this happened to you ? I would normally just forget about it and let it slide, but she really made my girlfriend and I uncomfortable by swearing at us and telling us she was going to call the police and have us charged. I wonder if there is some kind of board or something I can call to get something done about this ? Should I have left without paying for anything ? Let me know what you guy's think...

Thanks! Sorry for the long post... but without the full story, it is useless... :)

Bad word of mouth I guess is all I'd waste my time on. Maybe a letter to the restaurant critic for your newspaper? That sounds really bad.

My wife and I went to Red Robin for dinner and they put guacamole on her burger when she had requested it without. When we let the waitress know, the manager comes over, apologizes, and tells us the entire dinner is free.

I would have left too, A LOT sooner than you did though. You must be a very patient man. I guess you could call the Better Business Bureau, I assume they deal with restaraunts, if not I'm sure there's a BBB specifically for restaraunts.

Red Robin has great Customer Service when it comes to goof ups like that. That's one reason i'd keep going back. As long as they admit they made a mistake and fix it.

Go back again, if they serve you uncooked stuff take pictures and pay for it but dont' eat it. Submit it to some food quality organization section of the government or something, I don't remember the name right now

Thanks for the input guy's :)

Yeah... McDicks serves us food in less then 5 minutes... hehehe :) Not a nice dinner, but at that time we were tired and wanted to go home.

Write a personally addressed professional complaint letter to the owners of the restaurant.

Hell yeah. Report 'em to the BBB as well as send in a letter to the newspaper's resteraunt critic. And then spread how much they suck via word of mouth (which I'm sure you'd do anyway 'cause it's a good story to tell).

I woulda done exactly what you did, just leave.

$50 for a pink chicken and frozen veal ? :) You must be kidding me....you absolutely did the right thing...i mean you even offered to call the police for them :)

I cant even remotely imagine a restaurant where you get yelled at as you described.....probably the reason there was only ONE person there on a sat night....maybe next time chose your restaurants wiser :)

Hmm...I'm not calling you guys liars by any means, but I'd like to hear both sides of the story before I make a conclusion about the whole thing. It just sounded a bit too extreme they way the manager/cook were cussing up storms like that.

However, if it was indeed exactly what happened as you described, then I'd be super pissed and would do everything in my power to fire those guys. You did the right thing by leaving, kudos.

Jesus, at that point any intention I would have had to pay for the meal would have disappeared.

You did the right thing dude - in fact, you probably acted a little too civilized for the people you were dealing with. My instincts tell me people will now post "D00D I WOULD HAVE KIX0RED HIS @55!!!11" but that's just ridiculous, it's not worth a night in jail. Hope you report 'em to someone, and post the name of the restaurant for the rest of us to watch out for.

That sounds right. I'd have handled it just like that, or called the police anyway. ANd I'd tell EVERYONE how fvcking sh!tty those bastard people are, how rude they are, and that they need to be shut down.

Call the Health Department.
Write a letter to the local Paper's food critic.
Call and find out the owners name. Send him a synopsis.
Never go back, and tell everyone you know, especially older people.
