I have a friend who owns a computer business like I do. Well anytime he runs into trouble(especially with Networking) he is on his cell to me probing me for answers. He is usually at a customer's house when he is calls me.

I have told him nicely SEVERAL times to checkout the numerous tech sites on the internet to learn his trade better. I guess what really pisses me off is that he is making good money when I am figuring out the problems for him. He has never offered me any type of payment except once last year when I told him off but it didn't last long...

Another that pisses me off is he buys the $hitiest equipment and then he wants ME to make it work for him :( One time he called me up 20 times in one night when he couldn't figure out a simple networking job for his customer...good thing I have caller ID :)

What should I do...I value are friendship but I am sick of him using me for his gain.

go into business together and strap a saddle on yourself.

Tell him that, as pure business, you will charge him some amount for every business related call you take from him. If he doesn't agree then tell him, again as a pure business thing, that you will not help him for free.

Don't let yourself get walked on. More.

He isn't really your friend if he continues to use you like this. Friends treat friends better than that.

Tell him "I emailed that to you two weeks ago" for all of his questions.

Next time he calls up with a job, give him wrong information. find the customer, and charge them half to fix the mess :)

you got to stop the bleeding somehow, tell him to make you a partner

I was thinking about that...
Bad idea to go into business with someone who lacks ethics. Expect to do much more than your share of the work for a 50-50 share of the profits, or less than 50-50 when he pockets cash under the table.
