what would you do if...

A buddy ordered some RAM ($50) for his laptop, from a store in in the states.
They shipped it to him, when he opened the box, there were some really high end computer parts and 3ipods ANNND a $600 camera.
The stuff easily costs over $2500 total.
I'm going over tomorrow to check this out, 'cause I can't believe it.

They called him, but he didn't answer yet, not knowing what to do (yet).

He said he was thinking of keeping it, I told him not to (telling him, how would he feel if his order of a couple of thousand, went to someone else's house).
His argument was, not his fault, the store is responsible and will deal with that customer by paying him back fully or shipping him a new shipment.

My buddies and I are sort of split on this.
Some say give it up, others say screw it and keep it.
What would you guys do?

I told him he'll go to jail if he doesn't...lmao

Forgot to add, he said if they call, he'll just admit to getting his RAM and deny everything else. His words "prove it".

Don't lie on the phone. Don't lie period. However, they sent it to you -it's their mistake. Keep it and be a jerk or do the right thing and sent it back.

Package tracking with his signature not proof? 😛
In his eyes, it's fine because, inside the box was the receipt for the 2 units of RAM, that's it.
Now you can see his dilemma. lol

They obviously know he received the wrong merchandise. They have his signature for the items. This idea that "it's their mistake so screw them" doesn't hold water. If your friend keeps the errant shipment he should be prepared for an "adjustment" to his credit card bill.

In reality he should arrange to have the company send him a call tag for the misshipment. He needs to return the items. This was a mistake, not a lotto ticket.

lmfao! i would keep that ****** in a hearbeat. the company can just take their losses. if they called i would see how much they know is up. I might admit that i have it, but there is no way in hell they would get it back.

People like you suck.

It would not be illegal for him to keep it since it was the shops mistake and they sent the items unsolicited, they can't demand repayment. Plus they will have to honor the customer it was supposed to go to and they will eat the loss. Unfortunately for your friend while this isn't illegal persay, it's pretty unethical and downright low. Have them pay freight to send it back, perhaps they'll give him something for his trouble.

Definately agree with the rest, although your first thought would be "hell yes", reality is that they prolly wont be like "oopsies, our bad!" and let you keep it. Like everyone else says, do the right thing, and itll come back to him someday, its all bout karma

definently return it. they will find out and charge him. it's unethical. have him call the store and have the store send prepayed shipping labels. they'll send him the stuff he baught and may also give him a gift for his trouble. that way he can sleep good at night. (although from what i hear, he would sleep well at night even knowing what he did)

He's dealing with them now, the lady on the other end of the phone, wasn't much of a lady.
Rude bitch to say the least.
Busting his balls, without any apologies of the sort. Nor any, hey, we'll give you the RAM for free, for your troubles and our error.
He's considering keeping it now, because of how rude she is/was.

Don't your friend be a dishonest jerk. Tell him to do the right thing. If the company wants it back he should give the items back. If they don't bother, then gj you have free sh!t. I would definitely not put any money towards getting it back to them, that is their problem.

FoBoT errr it's my friend, errr...

As for what he's doing, he was reached by the store manager and the guy was nice apparently.
My buddy said he'd call him on Monday, don't know the details if whether or not he admitted to knowing what was inside yet.
