What would you do If you won the big lottery..........

As the title says, 'What would you do if you won the big lottery'? I'd park it in the bank for 3 or 4 months then over that time I'd figure out what to do with it (what to invest in and how much to give to family and charity). Of course I'd share with my mom & dad and my 5 sisters After I figured out who gets what, then I'm on an extended vaction.

Not a sexy plan but that's what I'd do.

It really depends on the amount. Ideally, I'd like the amount to be somewhere like $20 million. That would give me enough to set up my parents, grandmother, and my brother and sister in addition to addressing my own needs.

For myself, the first thing I would do is pay off all my debts. Second thing would be take a large portion of the winnings and invest. I would set up a portfolio that would guarantee me quite a sufficient income for the rest of my life. Second thing would be to buy a beachfront estate on Long Beach Island, NJ. After that would come the boats, cars, and other toys.

I'd take a small portion of it and give it to a few friends who could use a little help too.

For one thing, this friggin' TNT2 Vanta video card would die a fiery death. In it's place would go a GF2 GTS/400, as tested by Tom. Then I'd drop in 768 MB of PC150 HSDRAM, a nice SCSI array (can we say 4x15K RPM Cheetah's in Ultra160 Raid 0?). Oh, I'd also buy a house. And a Viper. Nah, make that 10 Vipers. 10 dual turbo charged Vipers from Hennessey.

I'd take care of my family, then start my own business. I'd also donate to the cancer and alzheimer's research and buy lots of toys to put in the "Toys for Tots" boxes. And, build my kids their own racetrack.

I think making this decisions is quite tough. First, though, I'd quit working immediatly. I have many charity interests that I'd like to donate my labor and talents to.

Winning the lottery would be quite scarry. Lots of people who have won ended up going broke within a few years because they didn't have the right discipline to control their money. I guess I'll never experience this feeling because I don't play the lottery.

A harem is mandatory, at least if you are a guy. I'd want seven, so I could, ahem, have a different one every night if I chose or something along those lines.

Make sure my close family was taken care of (mom, dad, sister, brother). Set up a trust fund for my two nephews ( ages 3 and 11).

Then I would take my best friend with me on a 6 month trip around the world. After we got back I would get back into auto racing by buying a sprint car and a late model stock car and race every weekend. I would also make sure my money was invested wisely so it could grow.

I agree with you 100% WJE. First thing any winner should do is get a good financial planner. People blow it all so quickly then start whining about blowing it. I have no simpathy for those people.

A lot of things...build myself high end computer and get myself a T3 connection. Ignore everyone I ever knew (j/k)and go round trip around the world. Give some to mom, dad and sis.
The rest... half of it put it in bank and let it accumulate interest, and the other half invest it in something to see how it does.

Of course... I will not tell any of my friends cause they would try to ask me to pay their bills which I don't think its fair.
