I don't care what any of you haters say, some of the sickest beats and lyrics in hip hop came straight out of the 90's. The garbage put out today (besides a few select artists) will never come close to the lyrical genius that has seemingly vanished from music.

Case in point: MA$E - 24 Hours to Live

Lyrics: Text

You have 4 options in this thread:
1) Reminisce about 90's hip hop
2) Flame hip hop and talk about how all the artists should get shot
3) Actually post what you would do if you only have 24 hours left to live
4) Nef

Not a hip hop fan but I liked the soundtrack in GTA: San Andreas. Liked it enough to check out Dr. Dre's The Chronic. Good stuff on there. I can't get enough of Fuck Wit Dre Day (And Everybody's Celebratin'). Awesome song.

There, that's all I know about hip hop.

(Waits for someone to tell me Dr. Dre is not hip hop)

Mainstream rap/hip hop does blow hard nowadays.

There's some little known artists that are pretty good.

Recently discovered Grieves. Local white kid from Seattle... Does a damn good job though
His albums are on itunes... but I can't find any page for him other than myspace here
I prefer his first album.

jedi mind tricks is pretty good... you can google them easy enough...

This.

You're right. The 90's and early 2000's had tons of great hip-hop. And you pick one of the worst rappers, made popular by the biggest hack in the industry (Puffy).
