Scoop it out, add some more chlorine, let the filter run. No one will die.

You realize your drinking water either comes from a reservoir in which fish sh!t all the time, or underground where livestock sh!t can leech into the water, right?

Yeah...it's not the end of the world...I mean hell in public pools when someone takes a sh!t, the lifeguard fishes it out and everyone (well, most people) get back in and continue their business.

Though, I would ban that kid from your pool. If I had a pool, sh!tting it would be like...'perma-ban' or whatever.

You're going to have to raise the chlorine levels very high for a while like you read, and also I know they do something called "shocking" the pool, dunno if they send an electric pulse through the water or what, not sure how it works at all. But draining and cleaning is your best bet. Figure out which fvcker did it and make him clean it while it's drained. Afterwards, when you refill it, I'd still raise the chlorine levels really high for a couple days again just to make sure.

When this happened at school (people threw dog sh1t in the pool) we didn't swim in that pool for a total of 4 or 5 days.

Were there peanuts or corn in the offending matter? If not Id say shock it and call it good. I mean, its not like adults will swim in what I like to call " the piss pond" will they?

Ok, guys, listen, turds are not some super WMD. You probably have one brewing in your large intestines right now. They're mostly harmless, aside from the stench and the fact that they contain bodily wastes that aren't meant to go back in.

Assuming the kid doesn't have any massive bacterially transmitted diseases like goddamned Botulism or something, you really don't have anything to worry about. Just dump some chlorine in, fish out the turd, and throw it in the neighbor's yard.

Well I'm a swimmer, and lifeguard. swim coach etc. still swimming in college currently.
SHOCKING is just basically putting high levels of CHLORINE (or whatever chemical your pool takes, sometimes bromine) You can buy "POOL SHOCK", all you need to do is remove the chunks and then SHOCK It, and let it sit around I beleive 12 hours (thats for a 25 yard pool) so less for yours.

In all honestly, if you are keeping resonable chlorine levels, if you remove it, its safe to swim in. We had people puke all the time, and just scopped it out. Chlorine is VERY powerful and pretty much destroys anything within a few inches, thats why you can pee in the pool and not get sick from it (yes all competitive swimmers PEE in the pool during workouts on the wall)

I have yet to have a kid crap in my pool, but if one did I would drain it and put in fresh water. As far as the kid, if he's only 8 years old don't bring it up at all unless he wants to swim in the pool again and then be totally honest with his parents about what happened and why he can't swim in your pool. I had a neighbor who is a trial lawyer (ambulance chaser) and I told him honestly why I didn't want his kids in my pool.

generally at the pool i work at if there is a turd in the pool, they just put the chlorine up alittle and as long as the turd hasnt broken up its perfectly fine to get back in once its fished out

if it breaks up or its like diohrea then the pool needs to be pumped full of chlorine for 24 hours

Fish it out, add some chlorine, and be done with it.

One turd in thousands of gallons of water does not amount to much.

That sounds pretty damn official, case closed!
