What would you do if a kid "went" in your pool?

A friend of my son's obviously needs some wiping lessons - I found a few (very small) chunks at the bottom of our 15' x42" easy set pool after they swam yesterday. Pretty gross huh?

I shocked it last night but my wife wants it drained and cleaned, which is obviously going to be a pain in the rear (literally).

So, what would you do? Let your kids swim in it or drain the dang thing? Looking on google it is recommended to hold the chlorine level at some certain level for an extended period of time (I bookmarked it at home, don't have it here).

If you do offer your opinion please let me know if you have any real experience with this stuff or are just offering your opinion.

And, of course, I expect lots of nice responses from the comedians out there......

clean the thing, that is aweful, not too mention that fecal matter can be toxic. You would let your kids be exposed to that...wow

Jesus, I hope your kids never swim in the ocean, or a lake, or any public pool.

Scoop it out, add some more chlorine, let the filter run. No one will die.

You realize your drinking water either comes from a reservoir in which fish sh!t all the time, or underground where livestock sh!t can leech into the water, right?

Drain it for the love of god. It may not be necissary but its just stupid not to.

Also, institute a lifetime ban on the pooper.

there is p00 everywhere don't worry about it

ever swim in a lake? all kinds of fish p00 and animal p00, bear p00 , bird p00 etc, etc

dilution is the solution and your pool already diluted it

forget about it

Just got off the phone with Aqua Quip. Gonna be draining and cleaning. AAAARGHHHH!!

Like I need this crud, my 13 year old dog spent the weekend in the doggie hospital and I've got like no sleep. Sheesh!!!

Such is life.

So, do I call the kids parents and rat him out or just deal with it? The kid's like 8 years old.

Just go to the hardware store and get 4-5 gallons of 10% liquid chlorinator. That should hyperchlorinate it enough to disinfect. More if you're really paranoid.
(I shock with that for 20,000 gallons).
I use the liquid chlorine as it contains no stabilzer and will dissapate rather quickly from sun exposure.
Draining is a waste of water and time.

tell the kid's parents just so that they know to address the issue with the kid.

you fortunately did not put the kid under any embarassment, but if the kid goes in another person's pool, he might run into nasty problems.

I'd talk to them face to face, be nice about it. they should let their kids know how to act.

Do birds ever poo in the pool as they fly over it? It seems like they would, because they go everywhere else, but maybe there's some kind of anti-bird doo shield, I don't know. I'm just asking.

How would he know who the kid was?

yes...agreed...people crap in public pools all the time, and vomit and everything...but with poop they just get it out and clear the pool for a few hours...no need to drain at all

I've never seen any in the 2 years I've had the pool.

No need to go into detail, but I know.
