I bought a MS Force Feedback Joystick on ebay. The seller charged me $10 to ship and it came without the box, smushed inside a duct taped box with the CD's loose inside and the upper part of the joystick riding on the top corner. The package cost $5.85 to ship... The equipment is probably fine (have not tested it yet) but it was the worse shipping I have ever seen. For the $10, I would expect him to take a little better care of the packaging.... Now the real question.....

Rating for him??

Remember he can respond in kind.

I find it odd that either party can follow all the rules, do everything possible to work the transaction, and STILL get negatives.

If you got what you bid on in good condition I would say the seller fulfilled his end of the deal.

At least on an ebay deal.

Yeah, if it works you really can't say anything about it.

The unfortunate part of eBay, (well, among other things..:roll;) is that they can respond in kind and you have no way to dispute the negative on your record. At least with Heat you can try to resolve/dispute the findings. On eBay, it takes an "act of God" to get a negative removed; even if it wasn't deserved. Blackmail, pure and simple. I know from a personal experience. The idiot never paid, said the account was his father's that just died and he was trying to "straighten out" his dealings. Problem was that it was registered in HIS name (and there was a separate account in his father's name) and had been for two years. Not only that but much to my "rookie" mistake, he had pulled the same ploy on someone just prior to my deal (didn't see it). Then, to make matters worse, he bought almost the exact same thing from someone else for a buck or two less, just a week later. So much for "straightening out" his (father's) name. My bad.
Bottom line is that I got a negative rating; the only one out of 135. I got it because he ripped me off and I posted my remark first. Let him post first, if he does. Figure out if the product works. If it does and you are happy, tell him you will post comments. Do Not LIE and tell him you will post positive. If he posts first, then give him a nuetral rating. If he doesn't post, leave it alone.
Again, this is assuming that the product actually works. If not, and he will not make good.....BURN HIM with the negative remarks.
I will be the first to admit that this is a crappy way to deal with people. However, this is the reality when dealing with eBay and problems. Even though there have been some problems here and there here on AT, I don't think this situation would ever come up on AT. ;)
