What Would You Choice Be For A Team AnandTech SETI Logo/Crest? How About A Team Mascot?

Looking for ideas here.

Logo/Crest?
- Something actually SETI related like an alien?
- A mountain of CPUs or something.

Team Mascot
- A Pentium 75 or something equally obsolete (As most of us are running a few low ones like this - even I am running the GUI on my MAC IIci (25mhz))

Team Mascot. Hrm. I can think of a team Mascot. If I can get MechBgon's Aproval. His Cheetah. Why? Cause this team seems to be fast about everything. Not slow like a 75 pentium. I know there are a few out there that use the equivalent. But it's not what this team really is about.

Need an idea???

Migroo, whats the wu time on that mac? my brother has one of those sitting around somewhere. I remember when he had that as his main system, I downloaded an mp3, but the machine was too slow to play it...so I was converting mp3 to aiff(similar to .wav) so I could listen to it....after a day and a half of conversion (with the machine being completely unusuable while it worked) it got about 60% done. I still remember, it was Wyclef Jean - Gone Til November

Wolfie, I agree...something 3d like that would be cool....perhaps running, scanning the sky. heh. or sittin in front of a computer screen, with a kvm switch and 20 or so machines sitting there, with the seti@home gui screensaver on the screen. that would be cool.

I like the farming analogy IndyJaws has been using... how about a field of computers as fas as the eye could see for a logo?

How about if it's sitting up looking at the starry sky with binoculars...?

Actually, the first things that come to my mind which relate to SETI would be 1) something that looks like a non-human (ok, cheetahs sort of qualify), or 2) a radio telescope dish. Either way, nothing really springs to my mind in the way of a mascot, exactly. For a logo, one of the mad l33t Photoshop geniuses like Beefcake could probably blend together some images and make a truly excellent logo. Did you all see narzy's logo that he cooked up just recently?

Secondly, I think I was meaning for the cheeta to be the mascot of TeAm Anandtech in general... Not just SEIT. And if you could think of something else other then a cheeta for the SETI team that would be cool.

As far as SETI goes, the endless field of PCs sounds cool... or how about a black background with a human hand shaking hands with an alien hand, and a caption that says

Friends don't let friends waste CPU cycles.

How about a combination of some of the ideas... rather than actually shaking hands with an alien... (after all... we are not sure what they look like really. well... maybe most of us) how about this...

Build on the farming thing.... have a computer farm.... rows of computers in a field....

with his back turned , a farmer leans against pitchfork (maybe we could replace it with some sort of computer tool) and gazes upward into the night sky.... as if looking for something....

What do you think?

I think it could make a really classy logo.

The reason I asked these questions, people, is that I have someone that I have begged to help out on a project like this, and they graciously agreed. They do this kind of stuff professionally, but we need ideas to work with.

I like the computer farm / farmer idea, but that sounds like you'd need a large logo to make it look good and be recognizeable. Is size a problem? (no pr0n jokes, please)
