As useful as I think they can be, I think I'd be too embarrassed to actually be seen on one of them.

If Hyundai made this, I would totally buy it:

Actually I would walk before I would ride either of those, well except your mom.

Riding his mom is like riding a Japanese motorcycle...it's fun when you do it...but you don't want your friends to know...but, she actually rides pretty well...nice and comfortable, fast and maneuverable....

As for me, I think I'd ride a Segway...but not a hoverboard. I'd hate to have to keep picking my fat, busted ass up off the ground all the time.

Hey, I just realized... is the fad over? Don't see or hear much about these anymore. They don't even seem to spontaneously burn down houses anymore. Like Pokemon Go...

When my son was doing Pokemon Go, I told him the fad would die soon enough and nobody would be doing it. "I don't know dad, it's pretty popular and EVERYONE is doing it". Well here we are.

The segway may as well be a half a golf cart. Who's going to ride around in public like that?

The Segway and Hoverboard are both somewhat fun toys, but I don't count either of them as "transportation". To answer the question, I'd be far more embarrassed riding the Hoverboard in public since I would be falling more than riding.

I'll need to see pictures of your Mom to know if she's a ride that I'd take out in public.. ;)

I wish Segways were more socially acceptable. They'd be a huge hit in places like NYC if everyone used them.

Segways in Washington DC were awesome. OP has no idea wtf he's talking about.

Why do them scooters have such tiny wheels? Very restricting. More clearance = more capability = more usefulness = more sales = more income = more profit??

If it was practical I'd ride either. But I don't think those would do that well in the snow due to the small wheel base. Maybe if they had a version with bigger wheels and more grip, could have a small train style plow in front to clear any lose snow. It would just cut through it basically.

Though I'd prefer some kind of e-bike/scooter. I wonder why such vehicles arn't more popular. Would be great for commuting especially if infrastructure was designed around such vehicles, which it's not. There should be a separate lane for cyclists and small motorized vehicles like this. I know here due to most roads it would be very impractical to own anything other than a car for commuting. Sidewalks rarely get plowed and if you use the road there is no where to move over to let cars by. It would cause a lot of road rage and people getting run over.

Both make you look like a douche. I guess all three do but that's only since I'm probably older than your mom and I drive an '87 TransAm. But at least the Segway isn't going to explode into a flaming ball of sputtering lithium and plastic. So you might be a douche for riding the Segway (and/or your mom) but you're at least a responsible douche (who can score).
