4) I don't care about Firefox's preload... the simple truth is IE launches faster.

6) IE renders my own WSS-checked better for me, Firefox messes it up.

I'm still waiting for a valid reason here.

that's just as sad as when I was talking to a friend of mine, she preferred IE because of the way it looked, and she was afraid of everything that moved on the internet, and so afraid of catching viruses and spyware. When I suggested firefox she almost bit my head off saying she knows about it but rather use IE. I told her not to bitch at me when she gets a virus due to IE.

I was never an IE user. I was using Netscape up until I switched to Phoenix around 0.3-0.4.
I only use IE when it's an absolute necessity. IE doesn't seem to launch any faster than FF for me.

1. And this is good, why? At least I get to make the choice.
2. See 1
3. What the hell are you talking about? IE with SP2, yes, an option in IE w/ SP2.
4. I care about security and in my 10+ years of use, neither Windows nor IE let me down. Also, point out some of the really bad things about IE being integrated to the OS. Tell me how this will affect my security vulnerabilities and show me a couple examples of this.
5. Again, I'm not an idiot. Just put the timer on my page: http://www.xiety.com and IE loads it faster and (in correct way) everytime I referesh it.
6. I guess you didn't read my answer to #6 above. Too bad.

I will not switch back to IE until they support CSS and XHTML correctly. Standards are MUCH more important to me than features.

Wow man. See, Microsoft does this evil thing called "embrace and extend." They take an open standard like HTML and CSS, and then they pick and choose what they want to support. Then they add a whole bunch of MS specific stuff to lock people into their product. If FF doesn't display a page correctly, its because it doesn't conform to standards. Some incompetent web developer wrote that site either using IE specific "features," or he pandered to IE quirks instead of writing standards compliant code.

IE has had broken CSS support for a VERY long time, and there is absolutely no reason MS shouldn't have fixed it by now. Actually, there's a very good reason they haven't fixed it; if they fixed it, everyone would swtich to Firefox because IE and FF would be on equal ground. As it stands now, IE has the upper hand because some ignorant web developers target IE, instead of STANDARDS!

Never switched from IE, because I've never had a problem with it. I've used FF at my old job to test webpages I created, but other than that I wasn't impressed nor did I see a reason to switch over to it.

IE seems to suck on OS X - I tend to use Safari more than 5.2 on a Mac, but then again Safari fails to properly load a few secure sites where I need to pay bills on for some reason or another.

IE on OSX is super sucky. You can't visit sites with self-signed ssl certs (which I use on my 2k3 boxes for OWA and RWW). :|

Its actually really funny at lan parties, I will be surfing shares, and Norton will pop up that "VIRUS FOUND!" window.. from scanning other people's shares. the guy next to me will be like "OMGWTFBBQ! DISCONNECT YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE NETWORK!".. and i'll spend 20 minutes convincing him its not a virus on my computer.

you spend youre whole time here yet you have one post per day

better than having 38 posts a day. ;)

I would love to go back to IE 6, but it seems to be sort of buggy on my machine and I have no time to reformat/reinstall. Firefox is slower and has no features that I find particularly enticing.

It is very easy to avoid spyware and viruses with IE.

I have never had either, and I've always used IE.

Why do people perpetuate this myth that spyware and viruses are somehow unavoidable with IE???

Bandwagon. That explains it all. As I said above, I have been online for 10+ years and used IE for the past 7-8 years probably. Never had any problems.
