I'm looking for cheap under $100 around 250GB hard drive for new build that will be performance vise be comparable to WD Raptor.

I already have 74GB Rapotor drive in my current build which is fantastic but I don't want to spend as much money on HD anymore and I'd like to have more space as well.

I would prefer WD or Seagate. It has to be SATA drive.

I checked NewEgg, ClubIT and ZipZoom and saw many WD 250GB drives around $70 mark but I don't know which one to get...

Thanks in advise...

A WD 250GB Caviar SE 16MB is a good drive. Try that one. It's very quiet.

What you need to look for is a single platter hdd with a large capacity, i.e. 160GB hdd are usually single platter. Single platter hdd are always faster than multiple platter for a reason, high density and lesser access time.

What aspects of performance are important to you, specifically?
No other SATA HD's are "comparable" to the Raptors.
