what would Jesus do?

Evangelical Christians throughout our country brandish stickers that ask the question:

what would Jesus do?

Would Jesus act with love, compassion, and forgiveness in all things he does?

I cannot imagine Jesus saying:

"We will find them and kill them."

And yet, our leader says those very words all the time.

Jesus had enemies. He knew his enemies were going to kill him. And yet, Jesus put his life in the hands of his enemies. Jesus sacrificed his life instead of fighting.

What would Jesus do? Would he start wars? Would he find and kill the terrorists?

Jesus let himself be killed.

And to be honest, I myself do not have the courage. But maybe I can start building it.

Humility and forgiveness is an important Christian concept that not many Americans are aware of, especially the evangelicals. It just goes against the whole emphasis on emotion and pride.

I think jacobj's saying we all need to convert, be born again, and vote republican. And eat our young. Then again I'm not sure what he's doing. WWJD: what would jacobj do?

good post OP.

yes, let us all think about this. instead of launching preemptive attacks on our enemies, we should turn the other cheek and let them hit us. like that's ever going to happen. rather, we could have taken a less aggressive stance and tried to solve the root of the problem instead of basing attacks on faulty intelligence and ulterior motives.

That aint fun though, Americans wanna kick ass. What in our culture makes you think we have the capacity to handle this situation with anything other than a bombing run?

his lessons go from being a bad winner/loser, all the way supporting war/terrorism. christian morality seems to be a smokescreen from most of what i've seen. an ex g/f dragged me to a FCA meeting that was just short of a drunken orgy. 3 out of 4 of the women i know who have had abortions are christian/republicans. my old methodist boss used to hoard his money, and talk about making more all the time, moreso than talking about Christ to his 'wayward employee', and he told me that going to church was good for business.

i know that being a christian doesn't make you perfect, but you're supposed to try, most i've met haven't even made half an effort. what did revelations say about being lukewarm? yeah that's what i thought. damned if ya do and damned if ya don't.

Yes...the problem with that is so many people interpret that as supporting terrorism. Which is obviously not a correct interpretation.

Matthew 5:43-48

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Question: What is the difference between "Onward Christian Soldiers" and the Islamic Jihad?

Can you imagine Jesus being a prostitute? No. But that doesn't mean he didn't help out prosititutes. Jesus loved sinners, including you gay people and abortion doctors.

He also told them, "Now go, and sin no more."

Jesus would never endorse and propagate sins such as prostitution the way federal funding and marraige does for abortions and homosexuality, respectively.

He also wouldn't warmonger and kill abortion doctors and hate gay people. Shall we continue?

Of course not, but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Who's said anything about killing abortion doctors? Or hating gay people? Bush is not warmongering, unless doing your duty and defending our country as president = warmongering.
