I don't see WW3 happening without the world ending ~5 minutes later when the nukes blow...

Okay then, how 'bout this: Who would ever have a chance of invading US soil? Mexico and Canada don't count. I imagine anybody trying to invade the US would certainly start WWIII.

screw direct assault, i would nuke the polar ice caps and certain tectonic regions on the planet, not only melting the polor ice caps but also causing tectonic disruption on a wide scale. its slower that way.

A really big boom, followed by lots of lava.Originally posted by: Gooberlx2
Makes me wonder what would happen if someone blew some nukes on top of the caldera in Yellowstone Nat'l Park.

Well it won't be Kerry as President, that's for sure. That pussy wouldn't know wtf to do if someone slapped him in the face. He'd probably call for a summit of nations instead of kicking ass and taking names! What a douche.

No country has the mobility necessary to invade CONUS. Count the ships in drydock around the country and planes at Davis-Montham AFB, and we've got at least 1:1 ratio with every plane and ship on the planet. The Soviet Union had the raw capability, but so much of that material is now non-operational. China would stand the best chance if they got more advanced technology from another country IE Russia and started a massive material construction campaign.
We've literally got more F-16s in mothballs at Davis-Montham AFB than most countries have planes in their air force.

Not just the technology for China, but the fact is their Navy is pretty much non-existant on a scale that would allow them to even make a small dent landing anywhere on the CONUS.

I don't think anyone has the ability to hit US with any type of nuclear device without getting shot down.
Of course they can do it if they were on Mexico or Canadian soil but whats the chance of sneaking something like that into their soil and then firing at us ??

Is current US war/defense/strategic policy to respond to direct nuclear attacks (on our homeland) with nuclear force or did they give that up?
