I know the Microsoft Xbox Wireless-G Wifi Adapter will work, but will any Wireless Ethernet Bridge work as well?

i have heard xbox on wireless is not great, and that it drops out often when playing games. if you find a good one please lemme know, i would like to make mine wireless as well 🙂

i have just been apprehensible about getting wireless adapter for mine because of what I have heard. i'm 99% sure any type of wireless adapter that can plug in via ethernet cable will work just fine, you don't have to get that specific xbox one that is like $100 in stores.

Actually, would even just a standard USB Wifi adapter work?http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd...mmfjcfngcfkmdffhdffl.0

I use this to connect my XBox to my NetGear wireless router (Internet). It works perfectly for XBox Live gaming. I have another that connects a second PC through the same router. The speed is excellent! The product is excellent! For those of you whohave had difficulty, try repositioning your router for better reception.

My XBox is arriving today, so i've never looked 😀

yea i dunno. seems like the USB thing would mainly be to power the adapter. maybe his xbox is close to his computer?!? but then wouldn't his router as well heh ?

Linksys makes a Wireless Game Adaptor and Microsoft makes one too. As for the actual network, no you don't need anything fancy as long as you have a G network. Network jsut detects it as any other wireless device.

I just make sure that my router is near the xbox so that I can use a wired connection. Also, if you mod your xbox you can buy a cable that allows you to connect USB devices (keyboards, flash drives, etc.) to the Xbox. I don't know if a USB Wireless NIC would work, I would assume that someone would have to write drivers for it.

if you already have a linksys wrt54g wireless router then buy another. use the satori firmware and turn one into a wireless bridge

that's what I did anyway

what exactly are you saying? i actually have that linksys wireless router you are talking about. i could just buy one of the linksys wireless adapters as in the post above yours, and hook it up with that, right?

I use the WET11 but I don't have Live so I can't say how fast it is. I have been known to overnight 4GB games to the Xbox over it however.

that is very VERY slow. i send tv eps such as Lost, which are like 600mb or so, at speeds of 10mb/sec. takes like 2 minutes to xfer that. 4gb should take about 15 mins tops, not overnight.

linksys releasd the source for their firmware so now there are awesome 3rd party firmwares that let you do all sorts of crazy insane sh!t with their routers, like boost signal strength or turn one into a wireless bridge 😀

aaah okay i see what you are saying, kinda.

i'm new to wireless stuff, heck networking in general. i got my first router about 3 months ago when i picked up xbox live and have had it wired the whole time since its close to my computer. so basically i can buy another router and make that into an adapter for my xbox? i'm not familiar w/the whole bridge term. and if this is basically what it does, why not get an adapter instead? is the bridge alot more stable?

Is your current wireless router too far away from where the XBox will be that it's out of range? if not, there's no need for any other hardware other than the wireless adaptor for the XBox itself. If it is out of range, you can get a Linksys Range Expander and just stick that somewhere in between the two to get the signal to the XBox.

mine is not far at all. even after i re-arrange my stuff it will be closer than 20 feet to it. as of now though i do not have any kind of adapter at all for it as far as wireless. i have an ethernet cord running to my router from it.

My wireless router is only about 20ish feet from my XBox as well but i opted to run cable over there. It's in the basement so was easy to go through the drop ceiling and down the wall.

However, if I did it wireless, I think all I need to do is pick up something like this: http://www.linksys.com/product...p;scid=38&prid=558

Just plug a short network cable from the XBox to the Wireless Adaptor and that's it. However I have heard some peopl ewith problem with them and others with no issues at all so it's probably just User Error....

802.11b does 4Mb/s on a good day which is 0.5MB/s. A four gigabyte file at 4,096MB would take 8,192 seconds or ~2 1/2 hours at that speed. That's why I overnight it.
