What would have happened if McCain had won in 2008? How bad would we as a country could have become?

Back in 2009, when the economy was headed towards a 1930's type recession, the Republicans suddenly became concerned about deficits and became neo-Hooverians. They were talking about cutting Federal government spending in response to high job lost.

If McCain was supporting that the US if not the world would have suffered a 1930's Great Depression. That would have been bad.
Would McCain (and republicans) have gotten demolished in the 2012 election off of the presumable depression, ushering in democratic supermajorities in Congress, an FDR type president, and New Deal 2012?

If only we could run an experiment that didn't ruin society or observe some alternate reality

It wouldn't have been the disaster that Trump "winning" with less votes than Hillary in 2016 was. America is still reeling.

Eventually...one of these years...maybe OP will learn to live in (and deal with) reality instead of living in a bubble of "what-ifs", "could-have-been"s, and pointless pontification of fictional alt-history.

Seriously...who fucking cares, at this point?

edit: the topic is political, but since it isn't "news" and is asking questions based on fantasy, shouldn't these retarded posts go in OT instead of P&N ? It's nothing but bullshit filler-fantasy in here.
