What would happen if some nut hijacked a passenger jet and crashes it into the Kaaba? Scary thought eh. I hope the Saudis have air defences in place to prevent this.

Some other nuts would hijack more of them and crash them into various American landmarks, because obviously we're at fault.

That's kinda what I was thinking too. So it's actually in the interest of the USA to protect the Kaaba!

While we're on "what-if's" - what if someone got ahold of nuclear waste drums, and pumped the material into a large oil field? As I understand it, the means to pump liquid into oil fields already exists, in order to increase pressure of the oil pocket. Would the oil become intermixed with the radioactive waste and thus be useless? I wondered about this because it is probably a lot easier to get ahold of the waste than it is to get fissible material, and rendering a large oil field useless for several thousand years would surely cause significant economic damage to the US.

Considering there isn't a big market for sand, the middle east would be hurting far more than the US seeing as how a LOT of our oil comes from other places and then there's the fact that there are alternative energy sources, we'd just be forced to switch to/invest in them a little sooner than expected.
